Taylor Lodge, Pokaka… surrounded by nature, this secluded property just off SH4 in Pokaka feels like ‘getting away from it all’ while still being an easy drive to Ohakune, Raetihi, and National Park.
Tongariro World Heritage National Park is adjacent to the land, which means the Taylor Lodge is enveloped by wildlife, bush, and trees.
The lodge is ideally located between the Whakapapa and Turoa ski fields and close to Old Coach Road, Mt Ruapehu, The Crossing, walking tracks, and mountain bike trails.
Owned and operated by my daughter Kylie and her husband Ben, with help from four of our grandkids, this is a great place to gather up the family, friends or work colleagues and head down for a few nights away year-round.
The lodge sleeps 46 people in 11 rooms in bunk-style bedding arrangements, and 2 of the bedrooms offer double and king beds.
From sea and sand to mountains, bush and snow, Kylie and Ben made a big call in 2019 to pack up the family, move from Tauranga to Pokaka, buy their first business, and take on the mammoth task of renovating Taylor Lodge. Their hard work, along with help from guests who have been visiting there for decades, and friends they have transformed Taylor Lodge.
